What does an adult AuDHD assessment involve?

AuDHD is the everyday name for having both ADHD and autism, not a separate diagnosis. The assessment looks at attention, development and autism traits in the same adult. Each can also be assessed on its own, through an ADHD assessment or an autism assessment.

  • The work is a careful talk about your life, past and present. It looks at how attention, drive and follow-through behave at work, at home and with people. Because ADHD begins early, the talk goes back to school and childhood.
  • Rating scales help sort what you have said. A score on its own settles nothing. Sleep, mood, worry, thyroid trouble, alcohol and plain overload are weighed before any answer.
  • Dr. Niharika Reddy and Dr. Wilfred D'souza do this work. The assessment is up to two 50-minute sessions.
  • A full assessment for ADHD, autism or development is up to two 50-minute sessions at INR 8,500 in total, with a written summary, and an ordinary session, outside an assessment, is 20 or 30 minutes at INR 2,200 or INR 3,000.

How is an AuDHD assessment different from an ADHD or autism assessment alone?

A combined assessment considers attention and follow-through alongside communication, sensory experiences and routines across development. The history is considered as a whole, including other explanations for the difficulties. Assessing both does not assume that both will be present.

What are the limits of an AuDHD assessment?

Four things get expected, and none of them is what happens.

Not something you pass or fail

There is no score to beat and no wrong answer.

Not a form you fill in and add up

A rating scale can be part of the work. On its own, a filled sheet is not an assessment, and this page does not ask you to score yourself.

Not a label handed over on the day

Sometimes the picture is clear at the first meeting. Sometimes it is not, and saying so is part of doing the job well.

Not a promise of medicine

Medicine is one option among several. Whether it fits is a conversation with the doctor, held once the picture is clear, not before it.

Common questions

Questions people ask before they book

Is there one test that settles adult ADHD?

No. There is no blood test, no brain scan and no single form that settles it alone. The answer is built from your history, with scales as one part of it.

Can this be done online?

In many cases, yes. The work is mostly history and conversation, and a video appointment can carry that. Some steps and some medicines still need an in-person visit, and the doctor will say so.

Do I need my old school reports?

They help if you have them, and nothing stops if you do not. Arriving with memory alone is a normal place to start.

Will anyone else be told?

Only with your consent, except where safety or the law requires it, and then you will be told. If input from a partner or a parent would add something, you are asked first, and you can say no.

Who will I actually see?

How many appointments will it take?

Up to two 50-minute sessions, included in the fee. Whether that settles the question is something we cannot promise before we have met you; if it does not, we say so and agree what comes next.

Can I be assessed for both ADHD and autism in one process?

Yes. One assessment process can consider both ADHD and autism, using developmental history, current difficulties and rating scales as one input. Each can also be assessed on its own. A full assessment covers ADHD, autism and development.
