Before the week begins Before the week begins. This track is for Sunday evening, or whichever evening comes before your week starts. You look at the week once, properly, and then you put it down for the night. Sit somewhere comfortable. Eyes open or closed, as you like. One long breath out. Now look at the week. Not in detail. Only the shape of it. The days, what is fixed, what is loose. Somewhere in there is one thing that feels harder than the rest. A meeting, a deadline, a conversation, a long day. Find it. Name it, in plain words. That is the hard thing this week. Now ask: what is one small thing that would make it a little easier? Leaving earlier. Preparing one page. Telling someone you are nervous. Pick one. Hold that one small thing. That is your preparation for tonight. The rest of the week can stay where it is. It does not need you yet. Now put the week down. Picture closing it, like a diary, and setting it on the table for the morning. Feel the body in the chair. The evening is still here. The week has not started. One more long breath out. If the week pushes back in later tonight, tell it: I have looked, and the rest can wait for morning. Open your eyes if they were closed. Go on with your evening.
